My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Have received A's in all chemistry courses in high school, college

I am a visceral teacher. I like to use illustrations whenever possible, videos, photographs, drawings... I like making connections to things that may seem unrelated - I think this strengthens neuro-pathways and thought processes. I also think that laughter stimulates learning, so I like students to feel at ease - I will make myself look dumb if it will make someone laugh and relax.
I am a natural teacher - it's what I do when I'm not getting paid. I just like to share knowledge of what, why, when, where, and how. I like the process of learning, and it is a privilege to get to witness, or even positively influence, that process in someone else. As a student-athlete at Illinois State University, I learned many invaluable skills. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Physics as well as minors in both Mathematics and Exercise Science. Earning this degree as well as two minors has allowed me to gain a large amount of knowledge in both science and math. Being a student-athlete also taught me great leadership, hard work, teaching and time management skills. In my final year at Illinois State University, I taught a physics lab course. I have 25 years experience in the civil engineering field, specifically the water resources area. I started substitute teaching at both the Lincoln Community High School and Hartem School District in 2009. I also started tutoring for Lincoln College in the Academic Success Center, last year. I tutor biology, chemistry, but especially math of all levels ... including statistics and geometry. I have been tutoring math from beginning basic math through advanced calculus and statistics at Lincoln College for the past 2 semesters.
