An Exceptional Teacher for Exceptional Students!

My teaching style is one of engaging, fun style. I believe that students should love to learn. Students should be allowed to academically express themselves to the teacher. This helps to facilitate learning. Appropriate questioning of the topic gets all students involved in the curriculum. I always help the students to relate to the topic by using prior knowledge. Differentiated instruction is given to all students in a caring, private method.
I am a former Special Education teacher from Bibb County. I taught in a interrelated classroom in both the elementary school level, and the middle school level. I taught reading, math, science, and social studies. I was a cooperative teacher, in which I worked with the general education teacher to assist her in helping our students with special needs. A Little Bit About Me...

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.
During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked wi ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Tutoring has taught me that perseverance and patience are the keys to tackling tough situations, and I try to pass that along to others. I am very versatile when it comes to teaching various age groups. I try to keep my sessions exciting, but focused and instructional. I teach to each to the unique style of the individual student and when instructing a medium to large group, I adjust to the majority learning style;moreover,"no student is left behind."
It is my belief that I do not truly master subjects until I can teach it to others. Thus, I view tutoring as an essential component of the learning process. With respect to my tenure as a tutor in the community of Tuskegee, Alabama and on-campus,this has certainly been the case. From helping to ease students of their confusion in the laboratory, to leading review sessions in front of spacious lecture halls, my experiences as a tutor h ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

When I worked in Korea as an English teacher I tried to teach my students on as much of an individual basis as possible given the classroom settings I was working in. I would try to guide the students toward the correct answers whenever possible so as to let them discover the information on their own rather that have it told to them. This gives the students a feeling of accomplishment which helps them to maintain an interest in the subject and learn more naturally. I also believe that when student are doing well they should be rewarded with positive feedback from the teacher, and that the teacher should maintain a patient and positive attitude with all students.
I have just completed one year of teaching English in Pusan South Korea, working for a company called KJC 21. I taught six classes a day which contained an average of twelve students each. I enjoyed teaching in Korea becaus ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with children of and on all my life. My credentials are personal as well as professional. From a personal perspective, I have a child with autism for which I have spent many hours tutoring in the afternoons. I also have another daughter, who has struggled in school. I have spent many hours in the afternoons tutoring her. I also volunteered in a high school helping Special Eduacation kids in the Resource classrooms. This experience along with my education, I believe, qualifies me as a tutor.
I believe in one-on-one teaching and hands on. These to me are the best way to get through to some children. Online tutorals are a new way to reach kids and adults alike, since everything now is media based. I feel this is an effective way to reach students. I will give my best to demonstrate this way of teaching. Hands on and visually seeing also helps to accelerate t ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have recently come to realize that I really enjoy working with students of all ages. However, my passion is still definitely for the elementary age students. While studying at Mercer, I had a professor tell me that she truly believed every child could be reached. I have now taken this to be my belief and truly do believe that every single child can be reached and helped to find the area that they excel in. I am an extremely patient and friendly teacher who helps her students find and meet their full potential whenever possible.
As a graduate of Mercer University, I have had the opportunity to work with students in many different grades while completing my many student teaching experiences. After graduating, I began working on my Master's Degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics with Walden University. I am only two classes short of completing my degree and will have it ... read more

My first tutoring experience occurred during my attendance at South Georgia College (SGC). At SGC I was a tutor for Student Support Services and was responsible for providing academic tutoring to my peers in various academic subjects. After graduating from SGC, I continued to provide tutoring services with the Sylvan Learning Center and the America Reads program at the University of Georgia. Under the provisions outlined by these programs, I provided academic tutoring in reading and mathematics to students in elementary, middle, and high school. As a soon-to-be graduate student from the University of Georgia’s School Counseling program, I have received more than adequate training and have acquired years of experience that I feel will help me fulfill my life long aspiration of helping children reach their full academic potentials.

I believe each student is different, therefore their learning style is different. Patience is of utmost importance in working with children, especially in the educational setting. Children need constant guidance and motivation and understanding in order to be academically successful; and success is measured differently for each student.
I have a Bachelors degree in PSychology and a Masters degree in Social Work specializing in working with children/families. I have 13 years of experience working with children in the educational and home setting helping to mentor them by providing them with the tools necessary to be academically successful. I have not only counseled students in school but have assisted them in staying on tasks and completing assignments; as well as tutoring in reading, math, spelling, language arts, test taking, etc.

My students' input is very important to me, because it well determines how I can deliver quality instruction and the very best in their academic performance. More About This Tutor...

I've enjoyed helping children and youth since a young age. I was a camp counselor for the Harriet Tubman Museum in Macon, GA at age 12, and tutored kindergarten and first graders at ages 16 and 17. I completed my undergraduate internship in school counseling office, and shortly after graduation worked in a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. I have continued tutoring children on my own time in grades pre-k through 6th. I have my B.S. in Psychology and Human Services and am currently working on my MSCED in Guidance and Counseling.
I enjoy helping students learn new things. I am a patient teacher but also like to push forward and past where a student is expected to be in school. I enjoy the look on a parent's face when they say that their child as exceeded expectations. I make sure not to teach each child the same because they are all different and learn differently. I believe in each and every child as an individual, they are not just a number, name, or student; they are individuals with personality and unique abilities to learn in their own way. No two people learn the exact same way, and I am a dedicated and patient person who loves working with children. As a person who has overcome a personal learning disability, I understand that it takes time to learn things and that at times to a child, it may be very frustrating and overwhelming when they feel that they are not on the same level as their peers. I strive to help meet the needs of each child in anyway I can to help them meet their full potential.
