I enjoy the most the opportunity to work with a child individually because that direct time and attention often makes it easier to assess areas of weakness and how best to adapt instruction to the learner's needs and learning style. Working at the Nashville Transition Center, essentially a half-way house for children aged 12-18 with criminal and/or troubled backgrounds, my senior year of college changed my outlook on tutoring tremendously because it opened my eyes to the challenges many face.
