I believe that each student has a unique way of learning and I try to adapt my teaching to the class. My philosophy is that what we learn in class has to be reinforced with the homework. I review the homework each day. When the homework is reviewed there is a clear understanding that if there is an area the student is struggling with we don't move on until the concept in understood. You cannot build on the foundation if there are blocks missing. If one individual does not understand then I wait for that individual after class and we set up a time to review the problem.
