My comments on tutoring Drawing : I have taken 13 years of private art class, going through painting, drawing, sketching, sculpting. Oils, Acrylics, and Watercolors. (Oils and Acrylics are preferred).

I would say my teaching style is really focused on the student and what they need. In school I was an average student never getting lower than a C or higher than in an A. So I really want to focus on listening to the student, especially because they probably are not heard at school. I want to make each subject interesting to the student, whether that means going out and playing basketball or chess or candy or anything the student absolutely loves. I want to attach each subject to a good memory, I don't want to pressure them or push them to just memorize facts that I know they will probably forget after they are tested. From my own personal experience I want any student I tutor to turn around and actually enjoy learning about a subject they are having trouble with.

Emphasis and understanding of the fundmental material is crucial, and I would focus more on simplifying how certain topics should be understood rather than over-complicating the problem.

Drawing is one of my top subjects! I possess a masters in Art and have been a studio art teacher for many years at the elementary, high school and college levels. I have also tutored individuals in drawing - figure, still life and other. All Art projects begin with the sketch. It is critical for all visual artists to be able to draw and draw well.

I believe learning should always be engaging and meaningful. It is critical to address individual student learning modalities and needs so the student can experience great success. I have always been a teacher of best practices, meaning incorporating those strategies and methodologies which are the most effective. They work because they promote high student investment and engagement.
I have been a dynamic, successful elementary, middle and high school teacher as well as college instructor of Art, English, French and History for many years. Drawing is one of my top subjects! I've been drawing for 25+ years

I have worked in art and graphic design professionally for the past 6 years, however I have been freelancing and creating art for myself since 1998. I previously worked for the Hayward Area Historical Society, which included assisting in design for exhibits as well as some teaching to visiting school groups. I have also been asked to teach small groups of children about art, or help with general homework on numerous occasions.
I work best one-on-one or in small groups, I can adjust my style to what a person needs after speaking with them for a while and understanding how they learn. I've found the best way to teach someone a new way of looking at something is to understand how they currently perceive it.

Drawing is one of my top subjects! I specialize in portraits, and love to share the process with those that are interested in learning the fundamentals of drawing.

I have been drawing since 1999, and have worked as a commissioned artist, participated in open studios, and had work in local galleries. After taking a hiatus, I have decided to jump back into the world of art, but in a different capacity....teaching. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and improved over the years by using my own unconventional practice techniques in addition to the occasional figure drawing classes.
My style of teaching is flexible. I cater my style to match the student.

I believe in a highly individualized approach. We all have different learning styles: visual, auditory, kinisthetic... and many more. What's yours? Learning shouldn't be a chore, but an avenue to becoming a more successful person. I like to set goals with my students and help them knock them out one at a time, creating a lasting sense of accomplishment and heightening motivation for future endeavors.
I began my teaching career even before graduating High School. I started volunteering my time with homework help and study skills at the local Boys and Girls Club when I was 16 followed by teaching Remedial English to a small group of ELL students at a partnering elementary school. During college, I continued my passion by joining an organization that teaches life and social skills to developmentally delayed young adults. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to tutor because it gives me an opportunity to help students build their skills and to teach them that they have the ability to learn anything, they want to learn and are willing to put their mind, determination and dedication into. I strongly believe that most if not all students are capable of learning anything they truely desire to learn, if they are willing to work hard and be determined to acquire the knowledge. I believe that this is possible with a teacher or tutor that has the skills and dedication to transfer their knowledge or drive for knowledge to their students.
My Teaching Style is to build a relationship with the student and their family. That is based on trust, confidence and a great deal of praise. Everyones performance is driven by the encouragement that they get on a daily basis. So a very important part of my teaching style is to include the whole family. ... read more

I have spent 6 years teaching university-level German language courses and reading comprehension & writing courses. Before this, I spent 2 years as a volunteer instructor of bi-weekly English language classes in Romania and Moldova. In both contexts, I have taught interactive courses for students of various ages, educational levels, and cultural backgrounds. From my background in Linguistics, I understand how language 'works'. I have a quiver full of tools to use in explaining the linguistic nuances, which I use to explain the relationship between thought and language. Additionally, I have been involved in various research projects on language usage, language change, and language learning.

I believe that every child is an individual with a distinctive story. Embracing such stories, I will make a profound difference on my students. Validating students’ abilities, experiences, and interests creates a trusting atmosphere. My role as teacher is to guide my students into authentic learning. For students to construct knowledge, they need the opportunity to discover for themselves practical skills. Every child has the ability to take control of their learning by thinking, reading, and writing critically.
