I enjoy hands-on teaching and one-on-one interaction with students. Good writing can simplify the thought process, and leads to students becoming better thinkers and communicators. I am easy-going and patient, but I take language and writing very seriously. There is no excuse for poor or careless writing, and I believe that an easily-taught, simple approach, can unlock the potential of any writer.
I achieved an English degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where my senior thesis was selected as a finalist for the UW Creative Writing prize. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a second year UW Madison student pursuing a math degree. I have completed Calculus 1, Calculus 222, Calculus 234, Calculus 3 based engineering statistics, and Actuarial Science (a class designed to prepare actuarial students for the P exam). Next semester I will take Linear Algebra and the Basic Concepts of Math. I enjoy working with young people very much, and I have an intense passion for math, so I have chosen to pursue a career in Math education. During my freshman year at UW Madison, I volunteered weekly at Sennett Middle School to tutor students in math and science. Since I love working and teaching with all children, I have found many of my out-of-the classroom responsibilities to be just as rewarding as teaching in the classroom. I have been invovled with Math tutoring programs at the middle school level, homework help times before and after-school, and one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions. I believe that EVERY student is capable of an "A"; just one student's "A" may be another student's "C". A Little Bit About Me...

I don't have a "one size fits all" approach to teaching; rather, I try to tailor my approach to the learning style of the student. I believe that each and every student has the potential to learn whatever subject matter is being investigated. My math teaching style relies heavily on problem solving and repetition. I believe that a huge part of the learning process involves gaining confidence, so I work very hard in that area.
