Served over three years as laboratory assistant while attending Greensboro College. Duties included teaching small groups as well as entire laboratory on occasion. Student teaching included upper level Biology and Anatomy courses as well as General Biology at Eastern Randolf High School. Taught general science for four years at the Juvenile Evaluation Center in Swannanoa, NC. Transitioned careers to Medical Laboratory technology for over 12 years. I am a visual learner and work well with other visual learners. I simplify the topic for the student for easy explanation and understanding, so we can then build upon the foundation for more in-depth understanding. I enjoy using diagrams and still have all of my resources from high school and college to utilize.

Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor. I have tutored for 3 years while I worked for Tryon Elementary school. I had great success with the students I worked with, in particular concerning math.
