Learning can be fun!

I am currently teaching English as a second language to post-secondary international students at California State University Sacramento. I teach all areas of English, including grammar, composition, reading, and listening and speaking skills. I have taught beginning English to refugees in Sacramento, as well as English as a foreign language in Guatemala and Honduras. I have taught both adults and children and love both populations of learners. I am also currently tutoring three Chinese girls with various proficiencies in English. I have worked with students from various language backgrounds including but not exclusive to Arabic, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, African dialects and others. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with children of all ages in different environments and capacities for the past 20 years. It all started at the YMCA Afterschool and Summer Programs which gave me my first satisfactory feeling for being around young people. That led to substitute teaching and to 6 years in the classroom with 6th graders. For 1 year I taught English as a Foreign Language in Slovenia and Germany. Finally, I yearned for more one on one experience which resulted in being a Independent Study teacher for the past 5 years. A Little Bit About Me...

In addition to my Fine Art degree at Humboldt State University I earned a minor in Spanish and participated in a Spanish Language Emersion program to Parras, Mexico, where I lived with a Mexican family, attended classes full time, taught classes in English and directed the construction of a painted town mural. I also have had experience assistant teaching Art classes at the University and graduated with two years in the honors painting program. My other teaching experience was as an employee at the Arcata Community Pool as a private swimming instructor for ages 3 to 18 and for a special education students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have owned and operating my own bookkeeping/accounting/business management service for over thirty years. I have taught others how to use QuickBooks, set up filing systems, enter data base information and organize their finances. I have supported a variety of businesses and organizations including several non-profits. I have taught others about AP, AR, Payroll, Taxes, and other financial information.
