My comments on tutoring Journalism : I was on the journalism team all four years of high school, serving as managaing editor, and sports editor, and was the only writer ot be granted free-lance editorial writing. Furthermore, during college and since I've taken my knowledge of pharmacoogy, biochemisry, chemistry, anatomy, etc. and have written several referenced articels for the online health magainze www.mindandmuscle.net under my name Tom Rayhawk

I tutored at the mathew dickey's boys club working with grade school students ranging from the 2nd-4th grade. I would essentially go over all of their subjects with them and ensure that they not only completed their assignments but understood the material. In college at Iowa State University I tutored in both Anatomy & Physiology and Biochemistry. Although I have not worked specifically with students in need of writing skills, essay assignments - I was in journalism and wrote for the high school newspaper all four years and served as managing editor and sports editor. Collaborative & Fun Teacher

I worked in the financial sector for 10 years and have a Master's Degree in Economics and Finance. Since then I have focused my efforts into freelance teaching, and have worked with students in a variety of subjects: chess, math, finance, language arts, history, piano, and writing, among others. Other subjects I’ve studied informally: literature, language, history, politics & government.
I believe that each student has a unique learning style of that must be discovered in real-time. Therefore I tailor the lessons towards an open, organic, collaborative process. My comments on tutoring Journalism : I have over 900 articles published with the former "Globe Democrat."

I love teaching. I earned my BA before I was old enough to vote. While my classmates were in his/her senior year, I was teaching. Eventually I earned my M.Ed. in Reading, then started School Administration and Adult Education. In all these fields I find similar necessary skills: patience, co-operation among staff and colleagues, knowledge of subject matter, communication with the community and parents and a well defined curriculum. Moreover, I am a published author and a former writer with St. Louis Globe Democrat - Suburban Journals. As a favor to my students, I often evaluate papers for submission. I am a recent college graduate with a BA in English (emphasis in Creative Writing). I have learned extensive grammatical skills and understanding through my work as an undergraduate as well as through my role as Non Fiction editor of our University's undergraduate literary magazine.
