As a graduate of both Purdue University and the University of Kansas, I place a premium of education in my own life. In my view, education is never wasted and helps people to understand various facets of the world we live. A Little Bit About Me...

During my last two years at Shorter University, I was employed by both the Shorter University Writing Center and the Shorter University Periscope (the newspaper). I spent those two years tutoring students on the composition and structure of essays, and helped them edit and proofread their work. As an editor for the newspaper, I was a mentor to all of my staff writers, as well as a contributor myself.
I believe that the best way to teach a child or student is by listening to them first. I love to help children understand a subject better. It is a great feeling to see a student get the idea after being helped. I believe that every student is capable of learning; it all depends on their learning style. In my masters program and while I have been teaching, I have learned many ways to get students engaged in the material they are learning. Some students learn better with one on one and some do better with group work. You just have to try different approaches until you see which one works best.
