A Little Bit About Me...

I was not able to obtain a teaching job when I graduated from college so went to work in the field of business. My jobs included: private secretary to a County Judge, bookkeeper, loan processor for a savings and loan, receptionist, cashier, manager, assistant librarian and owner of an electric motor repair business. These experiences have given me a wide under-standing of the business world and of the different personalities of people. I have also been a substitute teacher in several different subjects.
I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. I believe every student has their own learning style. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to find the style that works best for the student to help ensure the student not only learns the material but is also able to retain the information. I believe successful learning can be obtained by providing a relaxed environment that provides the individual structure and attention each student needs.
I have more than 5 years experience as a substitute teacher at almost every level. I have had the opportunity to also serve as a long term substitute teacher. I also have 1 year of experience teaching at a pre-school level, 2.5 years teaching at a post-secondary level, and a semester of tutoring a middle school student.
