Born as a Chinese national and I speak fluent Chinese Mandarin language and I studied Business in Accounting and graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1990 and my mathematical course I always get "A" on my grade (I even get 105 on my test score, believe it or not) and I still love math. I finished my degree by going to summer and night school; I graduated in 1979. I was the first in my family to go to college and I am very proud of that. I have become a much better writer and am much more aware of grammar through writing reports, technical papers and SOPs. For a couple of years I volunteered for Literacy Volunteers because of my love of reading.
I like working with children. They are so appreciative and excited when they learn and figure out a new word or anything. I am easy going and very supportive. GIven a good learning atmosphere, good support, encouragement and enthusiasm and children can learn. I have a strong belief in a strengh based interview before I ever start teaching/tutoring a student. This gives me an idea of HOW the student learns, which "intelligence" he most readily learns by (from Gardner's Multiple Intelligences). I have had experience in all grades form age 3 to age 17 and have three grown children. My "style" is very science and music based as those are my two strong intelligences which fit beautifully with reading in particular. But, I adapt and teach to the initelligences of my student who may not have the strong base of either science or music interest.
