My comments on tutoring TOEFL : I've helped Chinese high school students prepare for the new TOEFL (iBT). One of my students who applied to college in the U.S. last year was admitted to five excellent universities including the University of Michigan, SUNY, and the University of Massachusetts.

I've been a Mentor with Lincoln Public Schools for over a year. Mentors function as one-on-one teachers for gifted students in an area of their strength. I've taught math to elementary school students (many of whom were in middle-school level math) and am also qualified as a Chinese mentor for all levels and a Social Studies mentor. I also work at the Kumon Math and Reading Center and primarily assist young students who are learning to read. In the past I have assisted Chinese students preparing for the SAT and TOEFL, and also tutored numerous subjects for high school students.
I try to find out what a student is interested in and incorporate that. A Little Bit About Me...

Before my selection in the Fulbright Program to come to teach Arabic here at UNL, I was teaching French and English for high school students until I got my Bachelor's degree in 2008. With the Fulbright program, I went through various workshops on teaching skills. I learned crucial teaching techniques that have been impacting my career as well as my students'. I am currently a Teaching Assistant at UNL working at the Department of Classics & Religious Studies and pursuing my Masters' Degree at the History department.
I still recall the early days when I was wrestling with foreign languages. Our French teacher had a positive impact on my teaching skills in that each time she made me feel that I need to put myself in the student's place to get the message across.
