A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with students who are elementary aged up through college aged. I particularly love working with middle school students. I am sensitive to student's individual needs and realize that everyone learns at their own pace and in their own way. When I tutor in mathematics, I try to help students develop conceptual understanding, not just procedural knowledge. I believe that all students are capable of understanding mathematics and am able to provide different methods of instruction based on the student's needs. With my background in literacy, I also try to help students see mathematics as a language, or as another way to express ideas. This involves instruction in vocabulary and how to read mathematics notation.

I possess the rare gift of patience which allows me to work with even the least confident student, or the most rambunctious! My teaching style aims at explaining and discovering the simplicity in every subject. I believe that everyone can understand a principle if both the student and teacher work hard together to identify the way to success.
