I have worked for ten years as a certified surgical technologist. Two years ago I took a position at Eastern Idaho Technical College as a part-time instructor for their surgical technology program. I will graduate this spring with a BA in general studies. I have taken a variety of college classes over the past several years, and this has enabled me to understand a variety of subjects. Many of the courses that I have taken involved writing numerous papers and essays, which I have always excelled at. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a love for children and for learning. I believe in being patient and encouraging children to learn. I have learned in my dealings with children that they respond better when they feel that I have a genuine interest in them. I have worked with children with Autism. They are a special challenge, but have helped me to develop more patience and understanding. I believe in life long learning. I majored in botany and have a minor in both Spanish and chemistry. I hold a masters degree in Biology with an emphasis on plant health. I am currently writing my dissertation for my PhD program in Adult Education. I have over 20 years experience in plant health research and have taught several different subjects to all age groups. I enjoy watching students grasp the scientific method as it is something that comes naturally to most people if put in the right context. Science is rewarding to teach because it incorporates other disciplines like math. I often receive comments about my effective teaching style.
