In 2003, I earned Bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Psychology. In 2006, I earned my Master's degree in Business Administration. I wrote and defended a 50+ page thesis to complete this program. During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic. My knowledge comes from practical experience and in knowing study approaches in advance of taking standardized test.

Attaining two degrees has opened my eyes to many different teaching styles and ways of learning. I believe that the most effective way to learn and teach is to explain concepts and theories thoroughly before any application of these concepts. I believe that in order to really learn a subject, and not just memorize it, the theory must be understood.
