I have three years experience teaching in the best language schools in the world, including Berlitz International, CNA Language Schools, Brazil, and TAG IDIOMA, Brazil. I was a music specialist for one semester. It was a great experience that I truly enjoyed. I taught grades K-5. I was responsible for creating my own lesson plans and activities for the 40 minutes of music class. I introduced recorders to the 5th grade. Then I put together a booklet for them to teach themselves how to play more songs. They looked forward to working on this summer project independently. I tutored 5th and a 3rd graders this last year. A fifth grade student of mine was falling behind in her work load and brought home a below average report card during the first quarter of school. I believe that you need to also listen to what the student has to say if they have anything to say at all, then observe while they work to see what works and doesn’t.
