College level Chemistry Teacher / French as mother tongue

My teaching philosophy is to help students understand chemistry through four modalities: reading, listening, seeing and hands-on learning. To explain ideas in chemistry I can use various teaching aids such as 3-D models, chemistry-writing software, and visual demonstrations. I also try to relate chemistry to student’s real world experiences.
I am a part-time faculty at Robert Morris University. I have 10 years of formal experience teaching undergraduate chemistry courses in the classroom and in private both in-person and online. I have worked with elementary, high school, and college-aged students, providing instruction in subjects ranging from English to biology. I am comfortable teaching a group, but I also have ample experience working one-on-one with students. I believe that course material should engage students. I do not believe that rote memorization is practical in most real-world situations, and I prefer to provide instruction in a manner that makes learning interesting and fun. I have a friendly teaching style; I use a lot of sense of humor. But, this takes a lot of hard work to achieve. The reason I am able to teach French grammar in a non-intimidating, almost very relaxing way, is because I had to master it. I have a way of getting closer to my students and to their difficulties by having the ability to relate almost every chapter I introduce to my personal experiences. And, I have anecdotes almost about any new topic I present. I am a story teller in that sense. Sometime my students beg me to tell them more anecdotes. I have always been passionate about working with different students and finding their unique learning strategies.
