Italian is one of my top subjects! I have taught Italian for many years now, having studied in Italy,lived and visited there many times during the last 30 years. I am at the level of a native speaker regarding proficiency. I use a modern teaching method based on scientific evidence that children learn 60% of their native language by listening, 30% by speaking, and only 5% each by reading and writing. Learning should be fun, so although grammar is important, the ability to understand and be understood should remain in the forefront.

In the past 30 years, languages have been my passion. I have worked as a teacher, proofreader/editor, and also as a translator. I have taught everything from classes to private lessons, children to senior citizens with success and enthusiasm. I always try to find out what my students love, and start working from this to help them achieve their goals.
Although grammar is important, languages are acquired overwhelmingly by listening (60%) and speaking (30%), whereas only 5% each by reading and writing. I view myself more as a coach than a "teacher", using a modern didactic method also known as accelerated learning. Learning should be fun, otherwise, something is not right, and I always try to find out what that "something" is.

As a previous tutor for children learning italian, I learned the repetition and fun are two of the key elements. Gaining a relationship with the child and understanding how they learn the best. Some children learn better by speaking rather then writing, others the opposite. Being friendly and patient are key elements to teaching, I've noticed in my past tutoring experience that it will be the key to success. Students wanting tutoring in any subject show their dedication to the subject, therefore, i will be even more dedicated to teaching them. I am a 60 year old Financial Manager, Creative Writer, Sales Executive with many years of Professional experience in several careers.
I enjoy working with younger generations. I believe stimulating intelligence and creativity in younger people sometimes requires thinking outside the box. Following instructions and completing homework certainly is a priority, as that prepares for adulthood.
