My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I have taught elementary students for 17 years.

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington. I taught first and second grades for ten years in the classroom. While teaching, I returned to school to receive my Master's Degree in Reading (k-12) and certification as a Reading Specialist. I worked as a Reading Teacher for five years, focusing on grades first through third. I also served as a K-2 Instructional Coach. I have enjoyed guiding children through the stages of reading, beginning with letter recognition and book and print awareness, to successfully completing End of Grade tests. My most recent experience has been helping teach a couple students being homeschooled! What an exciting experience! Unfortunately, the family is moving out of state. The basics of style are very simple and can be distilled into one principle: a sentence, at its most basic level, is about actors and actions.
