To accomplish that, I focus first on my demeanor. When struggling in school, it is easy to panic, and if the tutor is relaxed, calm, and deliberate, then that catches on and the session can proceed in a level-headed manner. Though I have not had any experience teaching in any school system in the United States, when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine I taught both American history and American literature to high school aged students. I have a B.A. in history from the University of Arkansas and have had a great deal of experience working with youths as well.
