I love teaching because of the feeling of helping someone who is truly struggling in class! I believe that everyone can learn, but some teachers styles don't match up with the students learning style. I am a very patient and considerate person. I am a firm believer that many students can't learn strictly through theory and need to be walked through example problems. I enjoy being able to work with children and being able to positively impact their lives whether that be through empowering them to succeed or teaching new skills. I received a bachelors degree in both history and sociology which gave me the credentials to teach Sociology 101 classes at the college level while attaining my masters degree, which I then used to teach as an instructor for nine months at two separate colleges. I am finishing up my second masters degree, and want nothing more than to share the knowledge I have learned with others.
I am an active teacher, especially when allowed to create my own curriculum. I love to incorporate lectures with powerpoints, videos with discussions, and book readings with field trips. Being that I am relatively fresh out of college, I can relate to most students on a personal level. In college, I took many education courses and spent many hours in the classroom so I am current on new teaching styles. I can help average students excel and poor students gain confidence through learning. Many students are afraid of math before even beginning. I have helped many students that math is just math.
