A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent thirty-five years in the field of education. During my college years I worked in the early childhood field and I worked as a private tutor as a means of supporting my education. Since that time I have worked in public schools, religious organizations, private educational facilities, and non-profit organizations partnering with public schools. The past thirteen years my work has primarily been in the early childhood and elementary field, providing educational services to young children and their families. Elementary aged children received tutoring and summer camp educational services through my work at this educational facility. A Little Bit About Me...

Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college.
I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
