My comments on tutoring Calculus I : I completed AP Calculus BC in high school and received a score of 5 on the AP Examination for that subject.

I try to work with students to find connections between different aspects of the material that we're working on as well as to find connections to other subjects. I find that by relating specific topics to broader perspectives on a subject as well as related subjects, the student can gain a greater appreciation for the coherence and importance of a particular subject area.
I have experience working with students who are advanced and seeking supplementary tutoring as well as with students who are having difficulty with a subject. I have tutored mathematics as well as chemistry, biology, physics, and other subjects. I have tutored students from a range of ages and I worked with my first student over four years ago while I was in college.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Education, Math Grades 8-12 at Baylor University. Through Baylor’s program I tutored Fall ‘03, Spring ‘04, and Summer ‘04. During the ‘04-‘05 school year, I was a Teaching Associate in a local school. I observed, tutored, co-taught, and taught one period of Geometry that year. For the ‘05-‘06 school year, I worked as an Intern in a local school. I taught, tutored, and co-taught all levels of geometry, Algebra 2 Honors, and Pre-Calculus. I went on to get my MS in Statistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in December ‘09. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2008 and am now almost done with my Master's in Biomedical Sciences. I was a laboratory teaching assistant for two years and a math tutor in the Creighton University Math Department for 2 years. I also did some private math tutoring for the undergraduates in Calculus I as well.
I am easygoing, but enjoy challenging my students to do well. I always try to be prepared and make sure that I am familiar with the material before any tutoring sessions. I am not concerned with time and feel that if it does take longer than the hour assigned to completely help the student understand the material, then I am more than willing to put in extra time to help them.
