My comments on tutoring Geometry : I took geometry in while in high school and I have worked with a number of students on the subject. I enjoy the subject and find its connection to calculus particularly interesting.

I have experience working with students who are advanced and seeking supplementary tutoring as well as with students who are having difficulty with a subject. I have tutored mathematics as well as chemistry, biology, physics, and other subjects. I have tutored students from a range of ages and I worked with my first student over four years ago while I was in college.
I try to work with students to find connections between different aspects of the material that we're working on as well as to find connections to other subjects. I find that by relating specific topics to broader perspectives on a subject as well as related subjects, the student can gain a greater appreciation for the coherence and importance of a particular subject area.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been interested in science and using that science to benefit humanity. In college I pursued a bachelor degree in Biology and was president of molecular/mircobiology club and was an anatomy, organic chemistry, and physics tutor. As an undergraduate I was able to be involved in forensic DNA research. After graduating I entered medical school where I have pursued research interests in pediatric infectious diseases, and middle ear dysfunction. In medical school I tutored students in pathology and pharmacology. My passions are teaching and patient care.
I have a teaching style that is very adaptive to any individual. I am very patient and understanding that multiple approachs to grasp a subject may need to happen. I try to base all knowledge around concepts instead of rogue memorizing. I prefer 1:1 tutoring but have experience lecturing to large audiences.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Education, Math Grades 8-12 at Baylor University. Through Baylor’s program I tutored Fall ‘03, Spring ‘04, and Summer ‘04. During the ‘04-‘05 school year, I was a Teaching Associate in a local school. I observed, tutored, co-taught, and taught one period of Geometry that year. For the ‘05-‘06 school year, I worked as an Intern in a local school. I taught, tutored, and co-taught all levels of geometry, Algebra 2 Honors, and Pre-Calculus. I went on to get my MS in Statistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in December ‘09. First and foremost, getting to know the student and what appeals to them most is the objective. Correlating things that excite or motivate him/her with the subject of study helps maintain focus. From there on, giving a lead for the student to follow has worked best for me. Like filling in a blank to complete a statement, this approach provides a context for the pupil to work in, a guide. Above all, bending to find the angle best suited for the individual goes.

A Little Bit About Me...

Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college.
I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
