Education is my life. From a very young age, I loved school and learning. It all started with my brother and his learning disability. I tutored him all throughout his academic career. In college I tutored elementary students through the CARE program. I then decided to be an English Education major and have been teaching ever since. Currently, I am finishing my graduate work at East Carolina University and working on the addition of TESL on to my teaching license. I am currently in my 7th year as an Exceptional Children's Teacher. My most recent position consists of being an Algebra I Inclusion teacher where I am responsible for going into the general education classroom providing educational assistance to students with special needs primarily while assisting everyone else collectively while present. My teaching style consists of various things. First and foremost, I believe that all children can and will learn. When given the appropriate resources and materials, a safe and nuturing envirmonment and an individual capable and ready to teach the whole child success will then manifest.

I have always wanted to become a teacher, it is the most rewarding job! The best part of my experience is watching students finally get something I had been working with them on. It is great to see how excited they are when they finally see how all their hard work has paid off. I would rather come up with hands on activities as well as any activity that involves the students being active rather than just doing work book pages and activity sheets. I also think that if I am doing the same activity with the students and showing them that I am having fun they will also want to participate. It is important to me that I also be patient and flexible with all students, each child learns at a different pace as well as in different ways.
