Statistics is one of my top subjects!

I have experience in tutoring online and in person with various agencies. I have also taught recitation sections of Pre-Calculus and Calculus. In addition, I have experience classifying questions into common core standards. I have planned lessons, created supplementary curriculum, and led review sessions.
I believe in the incorporation of the latest technologies when teaching materials. Critical thinking is a great tool that helps to expand the understanding of concepts, and I seek to assist students not only with answering their current homework questions, but also to succeed with all areas covering the materials in which assistance is being sought. I have been commended for my ability to effectively communicate these concepts.

Statistics is one of my top subjects!

I am very patient and I make sure the student thoroughly understands a topic before moving on. I motivate the student to succeed and teach good study skills and test taking skills. Normally, I use the student's textbooks and classroom materials during our lessons. For standardized tests, I use prep books, such as Princeton Review. Students do best when they are encouraged and receive positive feedback. My students are extremely satisfied after our lessons, and I receive wonderful feedback from children and adults I tutor.
For the past 10 years I have been tutoring, working with students and helping them in various subjects. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Binghamton University, SUNY in 2005. My GPA was 3.8, and I was on Dean's list every semesterOne of the subjects I tutor is college statistics and a student of mine went from an F to a B. Also, I prepare students for SATs/ACT, and ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am an independent financial consultant, and I have three children. Consequently I've been tutoring many years for my children and have experience teaching math from first grade to high school. Two sons already grew up and are in college. Both are successful examples of my tutoring. The youngest son is in the 8th grade now. Throughout the experience of teaching them I learned the patience and example methods that can be universally applicable. I myself studied math in the undergraduate and studied business in the graduate school. Let me help your child be my next success story!

My comments on tutoring Statistics : Ph.D. is in Statistics

I have been tutoring in one way or another for 30 years. My tutoring and teaching experience includes: 1) Teaching and tutoring statistics as a Ph.D. student at UNC-Chapel Hill 2) Being a Math Professor at Lafayette College 3) Teaching Actuarial classes for people intending on becoming Fellows of the Society of Actuaries 4) After earning my CFA Charter in 2000, I taught CFA classes and still do private tutoring for CFA candidates. 5) Numerous students for standardized tests including SAT's and GRE's. 6) Very broad based math and finance tutoring - I have recently been tutoring a Ph.D. student in a Stochastic Calculus for Finance class.
There are three important things that seem very simple that I have learned about tutoring. a) Everyone is scared So much of learning is about dealing with these really harmful notions of self-doubt. I know a guy with a Nobel prize - rea ... read more

Have been tutoring both high school and college students in mathematics for 13 years. I have tutored students in algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, and statistics. I have tutored both student that were struggling to pass and also students who just wanted to improve their performance but were doing satisfactorily without help.
Allowing the student to make mistakes and then learn from them. Allow the student to show me not only the correct answer but also to be able to explain how they came to that answer. Preaching to a student and doing the problem for them and hoping that they can then figure out future problems of the same type is in my opinion a subpar teaching style.

I am interested only in instructing serious students. These are students who will work tirelessly to achieve the goals set out for them, and who will come to a tutoring session ready to learn and ask well-informed questions. I am very respectful of all learning abilities and paces, and I have infinite patience and understanding when it comes to a serious student struggling with concepts that I may find easy or obvious. I am there to help guide their exploration, discovery, and mastery of the subject, and I am respectful of the many different paths possible to achieve these goals.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the best way to reach students academically is to form good reports with each of them so they know you genuinely care for them. I like to make sure that there is laughter in my classroom, because students will be more apt to pay attention in an upbeat environment. One of the reasons I became an educator is to watch students succeed. There is no better feeling in the world than helping a struggling student to understand various concepts, for myself, and for the newly achieving student. My purpose in teaching is to help students thrive academically, as well as emotionally.
I started in the education field by home tutoring students who were out of school for a week or more. I have experience tutoring/teaching students in all levels of math, from Math 7 through Calculus. This lead me to pursue my degree for education through Hofstra University, where I graduated from th ... read more

Throughout college and high school, I have always had the ability and desire to succeed. My GPA in high school was above a 4.0 due to the extensive Advanced Placement courses. I consider my area of expertise to be in math, including all sequential high school math courses, through calculus. I received a 740 on the Math section of the SAT. I have since obtained an BA in Humanities, in which I learned about the importance of diversifying ones education in order to become a more rounded individual. I studied english, art history, and 20th Century World History, and also minored in Business. After which, I got my MBA in finance from Saint Johns University. I am extremely diligent and hardworking.
