I attended Denison University in Ohio where I earned a B.A. in psychology, summa cum laude, with a minor in music performance (trumpet). I was a department fellow and tutor, primarily working with psychology and writing students, and also worked as a stage manager in the music department. After college, I headed to The Ohio State University where I earned a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology with a specialization in college teaching. Psychology is one of my top subjects! I have a minor in psychology at the bachelor level, and am working on my masters' degrees in community mental health counseling and school counseling.

I began tutoring in high school, as a sophomore. I started tutoring freshmen, and continued throughout my high school career. I would also often lead study groups with friends. My first focus in on developing rapport with the student and also discussing what they (or their parent/s) may be looking for from a tutor. I like to take a positive and developmental approach which focuses on building in goals and building on the success of those goals. Also finding out how the student learns or likes to learn, and assessing what has been successful/not so successful in the past for learning a subject.
