I have had 22 years total of tutoring experience, worked for six different supplemental educational services tutoring providers, worked for three different online tutoring companies, and have eleven years of experience as an ESL Teacher. I have just earned my TESOL certification and am looking forward to beginning teaching English. I have spent a majority of my life teaching in one form or another. My elementary school, Hamen Elementary, had a program in which good students could tutor mentally challenged students. I did that for three years. I also spent 8 years teaching martial arts and three years teaching dog training. I am also responsible for the majority of my younger brother's education. He is special needs and got expelled from kindergarten. He has since graduated. So I have a great deal of experience teaching students of all levels and abilities.
I'm pretty laid back. I like my students to make effort and hope to add a little fun in there but for the most part I expect my students to learn at their own pace and it doesn't matter how fast they move but they have to make effort.

My belief is based upon the idea that all children are different and consequently, they learn differently. I have been taught how to approach those of ESL backgrounds, a multitude of handicaps, and learning disabilities, just to name a few. For instance, every once in a while, a child will take too long to copy notes off of the board or doesn't understand directions that well. For istances like this, I write down notes and tape them to their desks, provide additional coaching and prompts, or even modify assignments.
