Experienced and New York State Certified teacher. I have over 10 years experience teaching students in grades 1-12 and 5 years experience teaching adults. I also have extensive tutoring experience. I have an MA from Marist College as well as a BA from NYU. I have designed and taught SAT prep classes (verbal/writing portion) as well as developing curriculum integrating diverse domains of knowledge to create a broad, deep and flexible learning experience for students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I first started tutoring in 2001 as in-house tutor at New Britain High School until June 2005. I have earned bachelor degrees in International Business/Finance which has enabled me to gain understanding in areas of math and business. Furthermore, I have tutored students in Reading, Math, and Writing from Kindergarten to High school students as NCLB Supplemental Educational Services. In addition, I have completed Special Needs for Special Student class at University of Connecticut.
I love teaching and working with kids. Each child learns at his/her own rate and in different ways. I am always there to help them to find alternative sources to achieve their goals. I believe anyone can achieve something in life.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe teaching is more than just showing how to solve a problem, but is helping the student to discover the “bigger picture”. For that reason, I ask a lot of questions to ensure that a student is not just learning by rote, but understands a topic within its larger context. In that way, he or she is learning not only how to solve a particular problem or answer a specific question, but also how to apply it to other problems in the future. I also like to make problems relevant. Students often complain that there is no reason to study something – math, for example. But I like to show that indeed, they use it all the time and that it can be fun. Learning should not only be effective, but enjoyable as well.
