I am a certified Business/Technology teacher. I am currently teaching at Urbana High School. In the past, I have taught 5th-8th grade Spanish, Mathematics and high school level Spanish I, II, III. In terms of Mathematics, I have taught middle school Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry at the high school level.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I first attended college I studied elementary education. I put my education on hold to stay at home and raise my children. During that time I was a compulsive volunteer with different support groups within the school system. I decided to complete my education as my children got older and received my bachelors degree and continued to take classes so that I am now able to sit for my CPA and I have also completed the necessary undergraduate requirement in order to teach business classes. I have also been a long term substitute teach in working with special education students.
Every child can learn and children learn at different levels. A teaching style must change to meet the needs of the child because what may work for one child may not work for another. I have assisted a number of students; Grades 1-12 as well as college-aged and continuing education in various math and science courses. My previous career included 27 years in the television industry at various local production facilities in Oklahoma, Texas, Maryland as well as the Washington DC bureau of the ABC Network. I love tutoring all ages, and find that adults, while a bit harder to reach in the beginning are usually the most enjoyable to work with.
I like to take the "mystery" out of the subject. Math can be especially scary to students who don't have a strong foundation in general mathematics and reading comprehension.
