As an administrator of a school I oversaw the education of children from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. I have eight years experience teaching algebra I, five years teaching business math. I have eleven years experience teaching English grammar from third grade through twelfth grade. I have taught fourth grade for three years, fifth grade for three years and sixth grade for two years.

After 29 years of teaching, I retired from the Public School System in May 2010. During my career I taught first, fourth, and sixth grades in the regular classroom. I also taught Developmental Kindergarten. Before I retired, I was the sole Gifted Education K-8 teacher for my school district. I currently am employed in this same position on a part-time basis. From a love of nature, I pursued a career in the life sciences, majoring in Biology as an undergraduate and exploring the plant sciences in graduate school. An interest in the organization of chromosomes led to work with a small soil nematode. I studied gene expression, energy metabolism, and immune responses in a long-lived stage of this little worm.
