At a major university, biology and engineering students, let alone chemist need to take general and organic chemistry. So it is required to tailor how I tutor to what they needed. In some case it was a guide through problems because they knew the basic information and could not correlate from one step to the next. Other cases would be where giving examples and working through problems in a non-math related way. Students sometimes feel too vulnerable to try things when they don't know someone because they do not want to make mistakes.
