As a young child I was diagnosed with dyslexia. I have worked hard to to get my degree and have overcome many challenges. I know that it is possible for all the achieve their goals if they are given the opportunity to be taught in ways which they best learn. I personally had to discover my own learning style. Now I work to help others reach their potential by helping them discover their learning style. As a tutor I can only explain my own style is that of my students. I began my college career admitted at age 17 to a competitive Bachelor of Nursing program at Boise State University. I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. I would rather spend a whole tutoring session working a few examples the student completely understands as opposed to several problems with no understanding.
