Patient tutor who helps with content AND study strategies.

Working one-on-one with the student to assess their current level and what study methods will work for them. Will prepare before tutor session if you send curriculum/specific problems!
I've helped in my mother's elementary and middle school classrooms since age ten. In high school and college, I loved coordinating study groups and helping (and learning from) my peers. Hoping to help both children/teens and adults as they endeavour to learn! I'm a current student at NAS Pensacola - so I'm always reviewing learning techniques myself and revising my strategies.

More About This Tutor...

Coming from a family of educators, I knew from an early age that I would become a teacher myself; therefore, all the steps taken to prepare for my professional life have been to enable me to be the best teacher I can be. I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of South Alabama. I received classroom teaching experience at a local middle school and as a university instructor. I currently have an extremely rewarding position with the Mobile Housing Board developing, coordinating, and instructing GED preparation classes. With this program I teach GED concepts and both group and individually tutor numerous students. I take pride in the fact that 100% of the students I referred to the official GED test obtained their GED. Unfortunately, the grant I work under has expired, and I will now explore more opportunities in the world of education.

A Little Bit About Me...

It is my belief that all students are capable of obtaining the academic goals when they are given the necessary tools need to be successful. I believe that all students are capable of learning in their own unique and indivual styles. I am a firm believer in learning through inquiry and hands-on experiences. By incorporation inquiry into a lesson a student is required to ask themselves question about the topic and solve problems using the materials given to them. When I see the "light bulb" go off in one of my students it is the most amazing moment for me. I strive to reach all mof my students and make their learning experience a life long positive memory.
I began teaching with students who required a significant amount of intervention to succeed on their grade level. While I was in Atlanta I also worked with the after school tutoring program for at-risk students. After my year i ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been a quick learner when it comes to mathematics. It is something that comes almost natural to me. With that said, I understand that this is not the case for everyone. I feel that a good majority of people hate math because they don't understand math, and because they don't understand math right away, they don't try to understand it. I had a wise professor once tell me, "Math isn't difficult; there is no such thing as difficult math. It just seems difficult because you haven't learned it yet". I think math can be easy for anyone, they just have to learn it first.
I started tutoring math when I attended Faulkner State College. I then attended the University of South Alabama where I tutored math and physics. I have tutored all levels of math and also tutored not only physics, but lab activites as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate of the University of South Alabama, College of Education. I returned to school to earn a teaching certificate in elementary education so that I might expand my career in environmental science as an educator. In addition to these degree requirements, I have been an activity presenter at the Baldwin County Water Festival for the past four years. I volunteer to assist with children’s art activities at the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope. I have extensive experience in technical science writing from my graduate work and my job as an environmental analyst.
I am still developing a teaching style. However, I know from personal experience that constructing knowledge requires much more than reading a textbook. All learners h ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I enjoy working with kids and have been doing it for many years. I believe all children can learn but not all children learn the same way. In my past expereience, I have found you often have to go outside the box to find what works and try many different methods. I feel very strongly about small group learning and think it is very effective when it is done in the right setting. I strive to be the best educator I can because I want that child to have strong foundation for the next chapter in their life.
For the past eight years I have been working in the Nashville, TN area. My first year there I worked as a site director for the YMCA before and afterschool program.
