A Little Bit About Me...

The beginning of everything, I've got three younger sisters and there has always been a fair amount of helping out where they're concerned. My comments on tutoring Genetics : Genetics is one of our most exciting fields and I have had the pleasure of working with local BioTech companies on cutting-edge research in the area. The possibilities are endless, and the deeper you go, the more complicated it gets. For example, if the conditions are just right, you CAN have a brown-eyed child from two blue-eyed parents! I have been teaching/tutoring students in life science for over 20 years, but it all started with my BA from UC Berkeley in Integrative Biology. At Berkeley I tutored/taught part-time as a Lab Teacher at Berkeley Community College, a study group leader at UC Berkeley student learning center, and a Kaplan MCAT tutor. I then earned my MA in Zoology (with a thesis in molecular evolution from University of South Florida) and mentored/taught College Freshmen Biology and worked in immunology at the Cancer Research Center. I moved back to the Bay Area and worked at Biotech companies including Genentech, and Amgen. I have tutored at UC Santa Cruz for undergraduate biology classes including cell biology, biochemistrty, genetics, and eukaryotic molecular biology. I tutored during my undergraduate education for two years.
What I have found works effectively is to lead the student through the problem with as little intervention as possible. The problem the student usually has with the particular topic is usually a slight misunderstanding of background material needed to answer the question.

A Little Bit About Me...

Before teaching, I worked as a Doctor specializing in Clinical Pathology, including Microbiology. In this work, I studied in-depth the characteristics and life cycles of different microorganisms, including viruses, bacteria, protozoan, and fungi, and performed culture and sensitivity testing of the microorganisms. With my experience in the Clinical Pathology Training Program for 4 years, I decided to teach a Microbiology class, including laboratory, at Lorma Colleges in the Philippines.
