A Little Bit About Me...

I am firm but like to use students life experiences and hobbies to teach them subjects. Younger students I like to teach through play due to the fact that I am a firm believer that children learn through play.
I have been studying education since my high school graduation in hopes of one day being the choir director at my high school.At the moment I am a student at UTEP studying bilingual elementary education and plan to receive a masters in music education after receiving my bachelors degree. I am currently a subsitute teacher and am hoping to continue helping students with their studies in the summer and weekends. In my schooland work experience I have worked with children of all grade levels and all subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

I've worked numerous jobs, none of which were fulfilling except the ones where I worked with children, particularly students who were troubled or had learning disabilities. I was a theatre major in college, so you might be quick to think I was a flake or someone who just coasted by through college, but I graduated with a 3.7 GPA, receiving some of my best scores in Logic and History, but my favorite subject was Shakespearean literature. I've worked with many children over the years in both a daycare and classroom setting, some easier than others, but I respected and enjoyed working with all of them. I have a fun and vibrant personality and a great sense of humor which draws people in. My passion and joie de vivre is infectious.

I have a social work background which, in my work has always been integrated with some component of teaching, both in and out of the classroom. I can teach most K-12 subjects, college prep courses and provide tutoring services including assessment and curriculum development. I tend to be rather versatile in my teaching methods as I adapt to the learning style of the student. It's what I have found most effective in improving the quality of their educational experience. I am currently enrolled at the university of phoenix where I will begin a masters in education this upcoming month. I have a BA in human services, which has allowed me to gain understanding about children and adolecents and what are some of the motivators that may be able to help them want to learn and go forth seeking higher education. During the first year of my last job I got to tutor children in rural communities in NM. I have to say that working with these children was a life changing experience. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I listed only 2 years of prior instruction, I have taught over 5 years of business/finance related material. On a school level basis, I personally have a child with ADHD that I tutor at home. I am especially proficient in English/Language Arts.
