The teaching style that brings the best success I've found is centered on two points. First of all, it is based on listening, which means getting the student to talk. Eventually, with guidance, I aim to get them the ability to talk through and solve any problem. The second major technique I like to use is analogies. Even complicated subjects can be simplified into their core components which are easy to understand if taught as an analogy to something more familiar in daily life. In working with students one needs to have the ability to connect with that student at their level of understanding. This can be different for every student, and the tutor needs to adjust to the student. A tutor has to be able to do this or the student will not be any better off.
