My educational philosophy is simple: all students can learn—you just have to find out the best way(s) for each student. Once I have assessed how your child learns best, I can tailor the content to meet the needs of your child. I am patient, understanding, and easy-going and have worked with students of all levels and backgrounds. I strive to make students life-long learners, not just to excel in their science class. Sometimes chemistry and/or physical science can be scary for some students, but the trick is to make it fun and interesting to them!
As an undergraduate, I became a chemistry tutor for two high school students in my junior and senior years. Having been devoted to the welfare of children and families and valuing education highly throughout my life, I find tutoring a satisfying occupation. After vounteering my services for many years, I attained formal degrees in education, psychology, and counseling, with very high GPAs. I taught psychology and sociology for several years and have also tutored K-college individually and in groups for many years.
Recognizing that each person has his/her own learning style, I emphasize "application" of material learned. I do this primarily by providing examples of information taught and require my students to do the same. My approach to teaching is to create a friendly environment with positive expectations to enhance the learning experience.
