I believe that an effective teacher sees him/herself as a guide on a path to discovery, not just a lecturer. When I teach, I like to start by asking strategic questions. These questions help the student focus on the subject and help me find out what they already know. From there, I can guide them through an investigation of the subject by continuing a logical sequence of questions. When we reach a point where the student can not answer my questions, I stop asking and start explaining. By then, the student is focused, interested, and ready to hear what I have to say.

A Little Bit About Me...

I don’t have one specific teaching style that I apply to all students. I adapt my style to the student’s learning style. I believe in positive reinforcement; not negative feedback. I believe that all students can learn; they just need the necessary tools. They need to have a belief in themselves and a desire to work hard, and they can be successful. I believe in helping students understand how the material can be applied to their everyday lives and how they will benefit by obtaining this knowledge.
