My comments on tutoring Elementary Study Skills : I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 5th Grade. I am certified K-6th grade. I currently teach ESOL/CIVICS for an Adult School.

My teaching philosophy starts out with essentialism which believes in a strong core curriculum and high academic standards. I believe it is important to have a strong foundation on which to build upon. After ensuring a strong foundation I tend to lean more towards progressivism. I believe students should be taught what is relevant today while becoming more independent learners, by utilizing problem solving skills and critical thinking. I teach the foundation and build upon that based upon what is relevant in a particular field today. I also include student-centered teaching strategies. I believe in order to learn a student must have base knowledge of a subject that leads into hands on assignments which require mastery of a subject. Experienced tutor

I have done a lot of tutoring. I have tutored people for the past 4 years. I tutored a little boy with special needs and have taken a class back in high school called "peer tutoring". In this class I would go around and help students in the classes I was assigned to. I took this class for about two years.
