During my master's studies I was asked to share my research in International Relations in Little Rock, St. Louis, Dallas, Waco, New Orleans, and Honolulu. Upon receiving my master's degree from Arkansas State University, I received a position as an adjunct instructor in the political science department for Paragould. For example, I like to break down scientific terms by their roots. In doing so, my students not only remember what the terms mean for that class but can also apply that knowledge in future class work. I have been tutoring and teaching for many years now. I started out on a small-scale in high school, without any experience, doing community service hours tutoring children at the TN Baptist Home. While I was studying for my undergraduate degree, I did scholarship hours doing private tutoring in English for International Students. My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool.
