I have taught overseas and in the United States from 1984 until June of 2014 teaching students from all over the world including the US, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, China, Thailand, Poland, Palestine, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, and other places that may have slipped my mind. I have taught students from seven years old to seventy years old. Teaching is my passion, and I believe we should all be life-long learners. Reading opens whole new worlds just waiting to be explored.

I spent three Summers working as a volunteer, teaching reading to children of Hungarian refugees in England. I enjoyed working with these young people and they were eager to learn. I am a voracious reader and have been all my life. I am also a writer, I have had articles published in our Diocesan magazine and in the Franciscan Times, I am currently an assistant editor of Franciscan Times. I enjoy writing short stories and reflections. I love to see children discover the joys of reading and it is my belief that being an excellent reader is the basis for learning in other subjects.

I love working with children. I believe that all children can learn, but each child learns in a different way. In order to help a student, you must find out how they learn. You also must find their passion. With this information (passion and learning style), you can help any student succeed. Many of my students have been considered as slow, but once I began working with them, I realized that they just lacked the basic skills. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate in Sports Medicine, I have an extensive background in all science related classes. I also minored in Religion and almost had enough credits to minor in Psychology as well. During the last ten years, I have worked with middle and high school students teaching bible studies, Sunday School classes, mentoring, and also coaching basketball.
I enjoy teaching and working with students, especially in high school and middle school. I think the greatest degree of success tutoring will be achieved working one on one in a comfortable study environment. Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. The key to learning is to be engaged in and excited about the learning process. If a student is struggling with a particular subject, establishing a connection to that subject is essential.
