Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects! Reading is a skill which not everyone appreciates. For me reading has always been an important part of my life. I learned how to read at a very young age and my level of reading has always surpassed my peers throughout school. I understand that for many people reading is challenging not only mentally but physically. It requires self discipline and focus. I want to help teach others to read so that they might enjoy the freedom and enjoyment and satisfaction that comes from reading.
The way I teach depends on the needs of the student. I personally learn by being show and then doing something while someone stands there to make sure I do it correctly until I can do it on my own. I can use visual strategies, repetition, games, songs, rhymes, whatever it takes to make sure I am clear and understood. I was always a slow learner when it came to certain subjects so I understand the frustration a child, or student can experience when a teacher is impatient or they just cant seem to get it right no matter what. Because of this, I am extremely patient and extremely kind in my teaching methods. I understand that everyone has different needs and different ways of learning. I am ready to meet those needs as they are.
