For the first three years out of the university, I was a school librarian, and was board certified K-12 by the Washington State Board of Education as a result of this experience. From 2006-2008, I have been tutoring writing at Northern New Mexico College, from 4th grade remedial level through college papers in all subjects. As an Associate Research Professor at Duke University I conducted research on the health of the elderly population and the genetic background to age-related diseases.
