French is one of my top subjects! I double-majored in French at UVA, and have lived one year in France both as a student and as an English teacher.

I have a Bachelor's Degree from UVA in English Language and Literature as well as French Language and Literature. During my time at UVA, I studied abroad in France during one semester. I also was an English Teaching Assistant in French Public Primary Schools for 8 months this past year. As it was a limited contract, I am currently back in the States looking for ways to help others succeed in the academic subjects that I love.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is a combination of different methodologies based on the needs of the person whom I am teaching. No one style will fit all persons but the main methods that I use are discussion (Q&A) and hands-on. I like to use visuals such as pictures, slides, and other presentation methods to make the history and or subject more interactive and mentally stimulating as well as memorable. I believe that the more a student is active in the classroom using their five senses the more that they will process and retain. I even like to put a dash or more of humor into each presentation to make the student feel at ease and let them know it is fun.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching position is a great way of showing that one cares for the learner and for the way everyone learns. I tutored various levels of French classes and my priority was not the money. Even now, I would often tutor French classes for free, because of my love for the language and also in order to help other French students exceed in their class. Learning French is more difficult than some people think, and teaching it is difficult as well, but I love doing it. It is a pleasure for me to help someone learn new materials and share my knowledge otherwise, if I do not, then it is not worth gaining knowledge myself.

If you looked over my resume, you would see that I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a year of experience as an adjunct instructor at a medical career college and two years teaching English as a Second Language at a private institution. However, if you looked over my life, you would see that I have been teaching, tutoring and mentoring my entire life. I have volunteered as a mentor, a tutor, and a teacher in community organizations, in local schools, and at my local church; and I home schooled my own children.
