I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.
You will see from my resume below that I have strong experience in math, science, engineering and computers. It is worth mentioning that I am also skilled in english (5 on my AP World Lit exam) and art (voted most artistic in my senior high school class). A Little Bit About Me...

I am a graduate accounting student at NIU, emphasizing in the study of taxation. My undergraduate accounting degree is also from NIU. I am currently studying for the CPA exam. I have been a graduate assistant for a taxation course and a managerial accounting course. I have tutored business statistics and financial statement auditing. All of my previous formal teaching experience is at the undergraduate-level.
I teach in a discussion style; A one-on-one lecture format. I have found that this, in concert with working examples, is a good way for students to learn. However, I understand that many people learn in different ways, and I am willing to accommodate.

Mathematically, I teach from a logical, or procedural approach. As students work their way up to Calculus and further, it is important to understand the process of problem-solving and not focus on the numbers alone. Many sciences can become abstract, I like to relate topics to things students may encounter everyday or already understand in order to get a foundation before complicating topics with smaller detail. Although I have never formally taught in a classroom on my own, I did assist in teaching a few of the classes I took during my first degree schoolwork while working toward my Bachelor Degree in Accounting. I assisted other classmates who didn't seem to catch on to the material as quickly as I did. Given that one of the subjects was government accounting, which is completely different from what we were used to learning, I embraced the challenge of helping others as well as bettering my own understanding of the material. Classroom discussions aren't very interesting if you've only got 1 or 2 people, out of 20, who know what you are talking about. Repetition is an excellent way to retain knowledge, which it was, and still is today.

I have experience in manufacturing engineering, Research and Development, Sales, Management in Computers and several years as a Chef.
My early teaching and learning style was to do as many problems that were thrown at me in class or the text.
