My approach to both physics and math is very concept oriented. I try to combat the 'shut up and calculate' approach that students often encounter in their schooling. Rather than expecting my students to quickly memorize and regurgitate information they barely understand, I expect students to actively engage with the material and to develop their own unique approach to problem solving. Physics is one of my top subjects!

I find out what exactly the student is lacking in the subject by asking a few basic questions on the topic and make a judgement of the student's understanding on the topic and then proceed forward. I normally explain the concepts in diagrams so that it makes it easier for the student to visualize the problem and give the student plenty of practice problems for him/her to work on to make their understanding better
