A Little Bit About Me...

I believe all children have potential to learn. I always try to find the best approach for teaching each child. I believe in positive reinforcement and giving a child a feeling of accomplishment after they have experienced so many feelings of failure. Teaching a child one on one is a much needed teaching method for a lot of children. I try to make learning fun and I love to see the light bulb pop on in their little minds!
I have taught public school in the Montgomery County School System for 26 years. I retired May 2010. I have taught grades 1-6 in All subject areas. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1983 from Auburn University. I received my Master's Degree in Education from Troy State University at Montgomery in 1990. As the valedictorian of my high school class, I know that all children have the ability to achieve their highest level of education with proper mentoring, coaching and training. All children deserve a healthy start in school and life. I enjoy assisting children with English, research papers, reading and creative writing, and science. My preference is children who are in elementary to middle school.

I start by asking the students to tell me exactly what is it that they not understand and start from there. I then like to work backwards from that point to find where they got lost. I also use everyday concepts to give similiar scenarios to get them on the right track. I find pleasure in seeing their faces light up once they come to understand the subject matter.
