It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation. I believe in practice and examples as the clearest path to success. I don't hand deliver answers and I make the process towards answers engaging. I make sure the time and place are conducive to active and non-distractive learning. I relay the importance and relevance of the material. I recap previous lessons and try to integrate them into current assignments. I always value and respect people and expect the same of my students.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate student at Immaculata University, I have learned what it means to be an effective teacher. I will be student-teaching 11th and 12th grade English at Renaissance Academy in the fall. I have also been hired as the head men's golf coach at Valley Forge Christian College and have worked with kids of all ages at my church for the past 3 years. Additionally, I have worked as a band coach at the Rock & Roll After School in Phoenixville.

After college I worked for three years.During that time I applied and received a scholarship to the Medical College of Pennsylvania, from which I graduated in 1994. I completed an Internal Medicine Residency at MCP in 1997. After residency I worked as an attending physician in Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2000, and in Berlin, Maryland, from 2001 to 2004. In January, 2004, my wife became severely ill, and I decided to take time off to raise my two young daughters. I taught at the Dawn Training Center in Wilmington, DE, from May to October, 2006. I also have extensive experience teaching junior housestaff and Nurse Practitioner trainees.
I have a fairly informal teaching style, and I tend to use a lot of humor. I try to connect the information I am trying to convey to what the student already knows, rather than simply provide facts to be learned by rote and regurgitated on an exam.
